Rigorous Recreational Exercise Activity or RREA are not limited to the following which enable prolonged increases in heart rate and breathing and involve Organisers and Participants that incorporate a LCCBSG to varying extents:

             Recreational Road Cycling,  Road And Track Cycle Racing,  Mountain Biking,  Triathlon,  Bushwalking/Hiking,  Surf Kayaking & Canoeing,  Lap Swimming, Ocean Swimming and Jogging/Road Running/Cross Country Running.

A RREA generally requires sustained, rhythmic movements and refers to a level of effort equivalent to:

  • a ‘perceived exertion’ of 15 or greater on the Borg scale;

  • greater than six metabolic equivalents (METs);

  • any activity that burns more than seven kcal/ min; or

  • intense enough to represent a substantial challenge to an individual and results in a significant increase in heart and breathing rate.
