Railway Level Crossing means a section of road which crosses a railway line.

Painful accidents can occur when -

(a)        a railway line girder(s) protrudes above the road surface; and/or

(b)        there is large gap between the railway line and the roadway; and/or

(c)        the rail line is on an acute angle to the road direction.

The likelihood of such an accident materially increases when the girders are slippery from recent rain or morning dew.
