3.II.(h)    Case study of a Type 2 diabetic who got fit and enjoys it  -  YELP will fast-track many more Rob Rule's before Type 2 Diabetes is diagnosed

Rob Rule thought he was in top shape when he went for a check-up with his GP.

But the 55-year-old property consultant could not have been more wrong.

The doctor told him he had Type II diabetes and needed to dramatically change his lifestyle if he wanted to live to enjoy his retirement.

It was the wake-up call Mr Rule needed.

"I didn't realise that I had been neglecting my body my whole life," he said.

"It wasn't good for me to sit behind a steering wheel or at a computer all day. My body needed to be moved."

The father of three from Nambour on the Sunshine Coast, set about changing his unhealthy ways.

He took up walking and in the past five years he has completed two marathons. Now he's planning a charity cycle ride through China with diabetes support group Team Diabetes.

"I used to hate walking, so it's amazing that I now speed-walk in marathons and actually enjoy it,"

"I feel so much healthier these days and wish I'd done more about my health in my younger years."

Mr Rule also ditched the junk food and started eating nutritious meals.

A Youthful Exuberance Lifestyle Programme in accord with this Business Plan will fast-track many more Rob Rule's before Type 2 Diabetes is diagnosed.
