3.V.(b)    Narrow the Generation Gap between parents and their teenage kids through parents rekindling Youthful Exuberance to become passionate about a RREAakin to playing in the great outdoors with their mates which teenage siblings can relate to

The Australian Federal Govt has committed $1.4b under its Tough on Drugs initiativeIts booklet "Talking with your kids about drugs" notes: "The more parents and other family members get involved with children's lives, the more positive young people will feel about themselves and the more likely they will be to respond favourably to their family's views."

Today an increasing percentage of teenagers do not admire their parent(s) -

(i)         behaviour due to evidencing their parent(s) mood swings from excessive Recreational Drug Use and increased stress and tension in the home partially due to the strain of making ends meet, sometimes including funding problem gambling; and

(ii)        priorities and values, in the main due to evidencing their parents penchant for Economic Materialism, with little time or inclination for former childhood values of playing outdoors with your mates

Hence, many teenagers do not identify a lot in common between their own interests and those of their parents.

Section 12 notes that Seven Lifestyle Behavioural Influences often render the joy of playing outdoors with your mates a distant childhood memory for many adults.

Stressful households cause problems for children that may persist for a lifetime.  Research indicates that children from such households endure higher unemployment levels than kids from more peaceful households.  Stress inhibits creativity and can affect self-esteem.

The irony of (i) above is that children who do not respect their parent(s) due to mood swings and occasional violent behaviour from excessive Recreational Drug Use, often emulate their parents by seeking similar relief from Recreational Drug Use.

Teenagers are materially less likely to seek release by taking drugs if they respect their parents and their parents respect them as articulated in "Talking with your kids about drugs".  The more common ground the better.

Evidencing parents not Hosing Themselves Out on a Saturday evening, because those parent(s) enjoy meeting-up with their LDRREG the following morning to ride their bikes, paddle a canoe or surf kayak in the harbour, river, lake of beach, hike a mountain trail etc., enhances kids respect for their parent(s) because they evidence their parent(s) getting their jollies from the sort of stuff that they can relate to.

Participating in a LDRREG cultivates and supports child-likeness in adults and their zest for life.
